Dr. David Badawi, M.D.

Arlington Heights Ophthalmologist

David Badawi, M.D. is a Board Certified and Fellowship trained eye physician and surgeon. He earned an M.D. from Georgetown University where he graduated amongst the top of his class.

Dr. Badawi completed his ophthalmology residency at the UCLA-Jules Stein Eye Institute, ranked as one of the top 5 hospitals in the country by U.S. News and World Report and ranked the top eye hospital in the West U.S. Subsequently, he completed a fellowship in Corneal Disease and Transplantation at the prestigious Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. At Emory, he gained expertise in corneal transplantation and management of complex corneal and ocular surface disease. He is on the faculty of the University of Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary in Chicago which is also one of the top eye hospitals in the U.S.

Dr. Badawi has authored multiple publications on eye disease, and he practices not only general eye care and corneal surgery but also provides consultations to other ophthalmologists for their patients with corneal problems.


Dr. Brittany Osgood, M.D.

Ophthalmologist

Dr. Brittany Osgood is Board Certified and a comprehensive ophthalmologist, treating a wide range of medical and surgical conditions of the eye. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA with honors. She then returned to her home state to attend medical school at the University of Toledo, and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. She went on to complete her internship at MacNeal Hospital in Berwyn, IL and then completed her ophthalmology residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

While completing her post graduate training, Dr. Osgood was still able to pursue her passion for travel by volunteering in countries throughout the world. She and her husband settled in the Arlington Heights area and share their home with their rescue dog, Lana. She is a member of both the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Illinois Association of Ophthalmology.


Dr. Kara Schultz M.D

Ophthalmologist

Dr. Kara Schultz is a board-certified ophthalmologist and fellowship-trained glaucoma specialist.  Dr. Schultz has been practicing in the Chicagoland area for over a decade. She provides a full range of eye care services, including cataract surgery, the medical and surgical treatment of glaucoma, as well as comprehensive ophthalmology.

Dr. Schultz received her undergraduate degree from the University of Iowa, graduating with honors with highest distinction.  She continued on at the University of Iowa for her medical studies, where she was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society.  Dr. Schultz completed ophthalmology residency at Saint Louis University, followed by fellowship training in glaucoma at the University of Illinois at Chicago. 

Dr. Schultz is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Glaucoma Society, and the Illinois Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons.

Dr. Schultz and her husband enjoy traveling and visiting new restaurants.


Dr. Maria Paula Fernandez, M.D.

Retina Specialist

Dr. Maria Paula Fernandez is a board-certified medical and surgical retina specialist with expertise in complex eye conditions. Having graduated from Universidad de los Andes in Bogota, Colombia, she honed her skills through an intensive Ocular Pathology fellowship at The Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. Her commitment to excellence was further solidified during her ophthalmology residency training at Louisiana State University where she also served as chief resident showcasing her leadership and surgical skills. She then pursued a vitreoretinal fellowship at the prestigious Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, solidifying her advanced training in the field of vitreoretinal surgery.

Driven by her commitment to enhancing patients' quality of life, Dr. Fernandez remains deeply passionate about leveraging state-of-the-art surgical methodologies combined with compassionate patient care. Her fluency in English and Spanish enables her to effectively communicate and connect with patients from diverse backgrounds, ensuring they receive the highest quality of care tailored to their individual needs.

Her research efforts have significantly impacted the field, with a focus on various eye conditions, such as retinopathy of prematurity, inherited retinal diseases, and retinal tumors like retinoblastoma. She has authored numerous peer-reviewed journal articles and abstracts, some of which have been published in renowned journals such as the Journal of the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, Retina, American Journal of Ophthalmology, JAMA and Ophthalmology, among others. Her work has significantly advanced the understanding and treatment of various eye conditions, demonstrating her commitment to advancing medical knowledge and patient care.

In addition to her research contributions, Dr. Fernandez has actively participated in the academic community, serving as a reviewer for multiple publications, including the Basic and Clinical Science Course Book Series from the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Journal of Vitreo-Retinal Diseases.

Dr. Fernandez's unwavering dedication to her field, coupled with her remarkable research and academic work, has solidified her reputation as a meaningful contributor in the field of ophthalmology.


Dr. Kyle Blair, D.O

Retina Specialist

Kyle Blair, DO works as an ophthalmologist with a subspecialty in medical retina with the other ophthalmologists at Central Eye Care in Arlington Heights.

His clinical interests include diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachments, macular degeneration, retinal vascular disease, and other retinal pathology. He is currently an editor for ophthalmology articles on the medical reference site, Statpearls.

Dr. Kyle Blair earned his undergraduate degree at Grinnell College in Iowa. He then went on to serve two years in the Peace Corps in the mountains of Peru. Following this, his medical training was at Western University of Health Sciences: College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific Northwest in Oregon. Ophthalmology residency was done at OhioHealth Doctors Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. He most recently completed medical retina training at this practice, Retina Consultants, Ltd. He is certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Ophthalmology.

During his free time, Dr. Kyle Blair enjoys running, watching sports, traveling, going to concerts, trying out restaurants, and spending time with his wife.
