Comprehensive Ophthalmology & Cataract Surgery
Dr. Abe Kaplan is a Board-Certified Ophthalmologist with over 24 years of experience practicing Comprehensive Ophthalmology. In addition to taking care of a wide range of medical conditions of the eye, Dr. Kaplan specializes in cataract surgery, including femtosecond laser assisted surgery. He also has extensive experience with advanced technology toric and multifocal intraocular lenses.
Dr. Abe Kaplan attended Washington University in St. Louis for college, graduating with Honors. He then spent the next three years teaching elementary school math in the Chicago Public Schools, an experience that greatly shaped his patient-centered approach to care. He strongly believes in connecting with patients, listening attentively to their concerns, answering their questions, and clearly addressing their needs.
After teaching, Dr. Abe Kaplan attended Medical School at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. He then continued his Ophthalmology Residency training at the University of Chicago, receiving the Department’s Outstanding Resident Award upon completion.
Dr. Kaplan is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and the American College of Surgeons.
During his free time, Dr. Kaplan enjoys spending time with his wife and two children. He also enjoys traveling, attending sporting events, and playing golf.
